Applications Engineer

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Working as a bridge between the organization’s sales, operations and engineering teams and its customers, the primary role of an Application Engineering is to ensure that the design of CETCO equipment meets clients project requirements and improve or modify when needed to ensure operational and safety standards are meet.
2. Provide data-driven engineering insights, conduct detailed risk assessments, and aid Sales & Operations team in medium/long term technical planning.
3. Utilize standard company assessment spreadsheets to determine the optimum configuration of CETCO technology to meet customer needs within prescribed limitations.
4. Assist in the development and continuous improvement of technology sizing spreadsheets
5. Research and coordination of third-party solutions to be integrated into specific project needs, ensuring costs are fully identified and technical compliance with CETCO and customer specifications.
6. Work with Global Engineering Team to ensure technical offerings are thoroughly reviewed for process conditions and safe operations.
7. Evaluate and analyze customer inquiries to determine optimal process or equipment design, sizing, and technical specifications for the given application.
8. Develop project process deliverables, including material balances, equipment designs, PFDs, P&IDs, DEDs, and process equipment datasheets.
9. Conduct CFD simulations and contribute to engineering studies.
10. Assist in HAZID, HAZOP and process safety documents, bid clarification meetings, project kick off meetings, visit client assets and provide process input to ensure customer care is foremost.
11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction, resulting in streamlined operations.
12. Conduct in-depth research and stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance process engineering methodologies.
13. Create and develop proposal and enquiry documents, detail design for purposes of quotation, purchase, and manufacture in conjunction with Global Engineering Team.
14. To manage presales technical efforts until a Operations Lead is designated, after which provide technical assistance through project award and mobilization as needed.
15. Know and understand CETCO Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
16. To work with safety as a top priority in order to minimize accidents and incidents.

Qualifications / Requirements:

1. Bachelor in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
2. Typical 2-4 years’ experience of related experience. 
3. Intermediate knowledge of industry codes and standards.
4. Strong scientific/technical background and a broad technical credibility.
5. Experience in collaborating with technical experts in a multi-disciplinary environment,
6. Knowledge of CFD, FEA, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics is mandatory.
7. Desirable understanding of basic material and structural science.
8. Demonstrable ability to diagnose and resolve complex process-related issues impacting quality, cost, safety, and efficiency.
9. Previous exposure to water treatment technologies and/or fluid separation engineering is a plus.
10. Familiarity with process engineering simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PRO/II).
11. Experience with 2D/3D CAD and numerical analysis, ideally:
    • CFD with ANSYS Fluent, CFX, Discovery, etc.
    • FEA with ANSYS Mechanical, Discovery, etc.
    • Fluid dynamics numerical modelling
    • Basic structural analysis using first principles and computational engineering.
