We’re on the hunt for a Deputy General Manager who has the responsibility to oversee Gardens of the Sun’s staff, budgets, and daily operations. You will create strategic goals and ensure they are provided and met by setting efficient operational policies and procedures, creating and maintaining budgets, managing and supporting employees, and acting as a bridge between employees and directors. You’ll be overseeing the Commercial Department (Marketing and Visuals), Administration Department (HR, Finance, and Office/General Affairs), and Operations Department (Production and Client Relations)

Our team is women-owned with a majority female team. This role will have a work-from-office arrangement and the potential to grow to a General Manager.

Expected start date: immediately 

Main responsibilities

A. Maintaining Operations:

  1. Oversee day-to-day operations within each department.
  2. Make strategic decisions to achieve objectives for the company's commercial growth.
  3. Lead the creation of the business planning process and ensure the development and timely implementation of the brand mission and business goals through operational systems and procedures.
  4. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the operations to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs while overseeing the implementation of necessary changes.
  5. Delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively.
  6. Resolve internal issues within the operations and company environment efficiently, with fairness and to the mutual benefit of all involved.

B. Team Leadership:

  1. Assign weekly or monthly performance goals and ensure their completion.
  2. Involving in setting and monitoring continuous performance improvement through key performance indicators for the company’s profitability, as well as the employee’s personal and professional development.
  3. Work closely with department managers and coordinators to coordinate activities and achieve company objectives.
  4. Ensure accurate manpower planning and make recommendations for recruitment and training.
  5. Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and collaboration among staff members.

C. Sustaining and Enforcing Company’s Growth:

  1. Financial forecasting and mitigating risk for company's projected sustainability.
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans.
  3. Design and implement business plans and strategies to achieve set goals based on P&L statements.
  4. Develop and enforce policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs, in line with the company’s values and goals. 
  5. Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to stay informed and identify growth opportunities.

D. Reporting:

  1. Regular reports to the Directors.
  2. Lead weekly and monthly department meetings with management.

Requirements

  • You’re a detail-oriented decision-maker who makes decisions backed by numbers to keep the company’s sustainability in line. 
  • You're comfortable with high responsibility and can handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time. You get satisfaction from streamlining systems, processes, and communication flows.
  • You have a knack for identifying errors and improvement opportunities, helping to make our processes smoother and more efficient. You're always one step ahead, identifying potential issues before they become problems.
  • You're motivated by tight deadlines and swift turnarounds but also understand the importance of careful planning.
  • You’re a skilled communicator who excels at delegation and collaboration across various departments. 
  • You’re motivated to drive our business toward optimal productivity and efficiency while keeping employee well-being in mind. 
  • You hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Commercial Finance, or a related field, preferably a Master’s degree, and have proven experience in managing retail business operations in a similar industry, including order management and inventory, human resources, finance, and marketing communications. 
  • You're a self-starter, ready to take on any task independently and see it through to completion, all while communicating and collaborating with your team and external partners.
  • Passion or relevant background in sustainability, e-commerce, and especially in the jewelry industry is a plus.
