MAINTENANCE CONTROLS ENGINEER

Maintenance Controls Engineer supports the overall manufacturing process through the ownership of PLC programming and related programming, troubleshooting, and support of PLC ladder logic. Also responsible for coordinating the implementation of engineering changes and assisting various departments with the implementation of new tools and processes and required training.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support the plant in all aspects of the electrical maintenance troubleshooting using PLC, related programming and robot programming skills and a thorough understanding of the machines sequence of operations. Processes in the plant may include wire processing, soldering, trimming, aging, coating, measuring, optical inspection, injection molding, assembly processes, laser printing, ultrasonic welding, robot, trimming and testing processes.
2. Manage the required electrical spare parts in the tool crib to ensure we can support any potential equipment failures on controls related items.
3. Respond to any equipment downtime issues in plant and establish any required outside resources to assist in responding to these issues quickly.
4. Train and develop the plant electricians to increase their ability to understand and troubleshoot controls related issues in the plant.
5. Interface with the equipment supply base to have key resources at our suppliers to assist in equipment problem solving when required. Know who to call when.
6. Manage large and small equipment improvement projects in the plant as a leader.
7. Resolve robot performance issues on Mitsubishi, Epson & others types of robots.
8. Periodical maintenance of the programming & PLC
9. Manage large and small equipment improvement projects in the plant as a leader.
10. Develop the preventative maintenance plan for the electrical section of new equipment for the production plant.
11. Support Industry 4.0 program

Requirements

Education: 

College Level Electrical Controls Technology Program - Completion of 3 year program

Experience: 

Minimum of 3 years as a Controls Engineer / Maintenance Control Engineer in a manufacturing facility

Knowledge:

1. Strong team work capabilities, operating in a multi-function environment to collectively improve operations and resolve related issues
2. Experience in programming and troubleshooting problems with VB, NI, Lab View or other related programming
3. Experience in PLC programming Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omoron, Mitsubishi, Schneider or other types of PLC’s
4. Experience with assembly processes
5. Strong mechanical aptitude
6. Hands-on approach to engineering
