The Opportunity

Hyatt seeks a driven strategic communications manager to join our Americas Communications team. In the Manager, Field PR role, you will be responsible for managing inspiring external storytelling strategies through a regional PR News Engine to drive awareness of and preference for Hyatt hotels across the U.S./Canada region, as well as acting as a corporate resource for hotel-level PR counsel. The Role

Responsibilities include managing the Americas storytelling PR news engine to drive awareness of and preference for Hyatt brands and hotels across the U.S. and Canada (700+ hotels), as well as acting as a consultant for Americas commercial services and operational hotel leaders to maximize hotel-level PR strategies, prepare and socialize field PR resources, tools, and training. Specifically, it includes:

•Support management of brand-level U.S. PR agencies with U.S. and Canada strategy storytelling and News Engines, including managing quarterly pitch calendar, developing pitch angles rooted in data and industry trends, and fielding proactive/reactive hotel and regional PR requests and needs.

•Collaborate closely with hotel PR agencies and Global Consumer Communications teams to story mine and identify compelling programming and trends to position U.S/CAN hotels and brands as industry leaders among target audiences.

•Act as day-to-day corporate PR resource for commercial services and operational leaders to maximize hotels’ PR capabilities and prepare/socialize tools, training, and resources.

•Advise and guide hotels on effective PR and communications strategies and tactics including but not limited to bringing brand PR campaigns to life in the field, developing/reviewing media materials, providing counsel on PR strategies, conducting media outreach, vetting media/influencer visits and editorial filming requests and more.

•Manage pre-opening / pre-transition PR process and strategy development, including hotels’ PR agency RFP process, for full-service and select-service hotels across the U.S. and Canada.

•Work with the Director to manage the regional Americas Communications budget to ensure we are maximizing and effectively allocating resources.

•This role is based in Chicago, reporting to the Director, Field PR, Americas, and sits within the Americas Commercial Services team.

Experience Required: 

•Minimum 7-8+ years of progressive experience in corporate/on-property communications (agency or in-house); travel/tourism hospitality experience a strong plus

•High degree of personal and professional savvy and experience to inspire confidence among audiences at all levels of the organization

•Media relations/spokesperson, agency/outside resource management experience

•High level of passion for communications, quality work, and team building

•Strong empathetic orientation and high level of personal commitment/caring. Unquestionable integrity

•Proven ability to produce a wide range of materials and content (press releases, social content, scripts, speeches, etc.). Strong writer and editor

•Conceptual, strategic, and creative thinker, capable of developing plans that deliver results

•Strong intellect, flexible and adaptable, stimulated by challenges, and open-minded with a strong desire to learn

•Strong business acumen

 

Experience Preferred: 

•Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related degree

•Ability to manage multiple projects and adjust priorities to meet changing needs meet deadlines and produce desired deliverables

•Strategic thinker with excellent listening, presentation, and communication skills

•Proactive, creative problem solver with the ability to translate complex corporate messages into tangible, clearly understood deliverables

•Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to act with confidence in dealing with various levels and functions

•Ability and willingness to operate in a fast-paced, complex corporate environment

•Ability to travel regionally as required (approximately 15-20% annually; up to 2-3x per year)

•Proficient, solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
