Job Description:
As a Primary Years Programme (PYP) Music Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education to primary level students within the framework of the IB curriculum. You will inspire students to develop a love for music, foster their musical abilities, and nurture their creativity. This role requires a candidate with a strong background in music education, a strong understanding of the PYP framework, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging music lessons that align with the objectives of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Develop a comprehensive music curriculum that integrates a variety of musical genres, instruments, and techniques.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their musical development.
- Organize and coordinate performances, concerts, and other musical events within the school community.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into interdisciplinary units of inquiry.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs.
- Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance music instruction and student engagement.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, creativity, and collaboration.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, curriculum updates, and upcoming events.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in music education, and participate in professional development opportunities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or licensure in Music Education.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience teaching music at the primary level, preferably within an IB or PYP environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in playing musical instruments and vocal techniques.
- Strong understanding of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and its philosophy of inquiry-based learning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for music education and a commitment to inspiring students to explore and appreciate music.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school community.
