Uraian Tugas

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES and ATTRIBUTES

  1. Minimum Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in Computer Science or equivalent
  2. Teaching credential in secondary Computer Science or equivalent
  3. Minimum five years of experience in teaching Grade 9 to 12 level courses
  4. Demonstrated organizational ability, and effective communicative, writing, and interpersonal skills
  5. A willingness and ability to teach multiple levels of Computer Science
  6. Documented experience and/or working knowledge of the IB and AP programs
  7. Experience with and commitment to Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  8. Advocate for inclusion and EAL in the mainstream
  9. An ability to work collaboratively as a member of a large Science department
  10. An ability to work collaboratively with the High School librarian/Tech coordinator to support High School or School Wide technology initiatives
  11. Experience using electronic teaching tools including artificial intelligence, PowerSchool, and web-based resources such as the Google Suite for education.
  12. Demonstrated background in associating with students outside of the classroom environment, for example: experiences in drama, sports coaching, clubs, etc
  13. International teaching experience is an advantage
  14. Clear commitment to Child Safeguarding, safety, service learning, and environmental stewardship

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Building and providing a sense of community

Providing students with positive and appropriate learning experiences

  1. Faculty must demonstrate commitment to professional inquiry and engage in collective processes of: (1) Identifying essential elements of curriculum and building common units of instruction, (2) Personalizing instruction; knowing and engaging each learner; using and planning appropriate interventions, (3) Providing timely and precise feedback using common formative and summative assessments to provide both meaningful student achievement data to inform instructional practice and an assessment policy that encourages success
  2. Using support and challenge to create a safe, motivating, and nurturing learning environment
  3. Demonstrating knowledge and skills in the content areas and the ability to teach for understanding
  4. Promoting growth in our Learning Dispositions (Resilience, Resourcefulness, Relating and Reflectiveness)
  5. Collaborating with the Student Support Team (SST) and executing ILPs as appropriate for students in their charge

Building positive interpersonal relationships

  1. Promoting positive interactions among students who have differing cultural, linguistic, and national backgrounds
  2. Fostering a sense of identity and pride in the school among students, parents, and colleagues
  3. Maintaining an open attitude toward new ideas and accepting others whose experiences, opinions, and beliefs may differ
  4. Collaborating with grade-level teams, School Wide teams, and the HS SSTs

Seeking ongoing professional growth

  1. Continuing to acquire new learning and reflecting new learning and professional practice
  2. Engaging in opportunities for in-service and workshop offerings
  3. Sharing professional knowledge with colleagues
  4. Working closely with Department Heads, Curriculum Coordinators, and specialist teachers to plan cooperatively, develop curriculum, and maintain a positive, professional school climate

Communicating effectively

  1. Providing opportunities for parent involvement in school programs, activities or the classroom
  2. Providing access to curriculum documents and unit plans through our curriculum management system
  3. Communicating concerns for students who may be experiencing social, emotional or academic difficulties to the counseling team and/or SST.
  4. Communicating effectively with students and parents

Embracing the JIS Learning Dispositions of Resilience, Resourcefulness, Relating and Reflectiveness

Performing other related duties and assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the Science Head of Department and/or HS Principal.
