Job Description Summary

As country Customs Leader for Indonesia, you will be responsible for leading all matters involving HealthCare's Customs operations, internal and external customs audits, broker management, special program initiatives and monitoring. This position will serve as the primary contact to key stakeholders of the Healthcare business in Indonesia for all customs matters requiring advisory, government representations and trainings with the end goal of maintaining GE HealthCare's high standard of compliance to customs laws, rules, and regulations.

This position ensures processes and procedures related to the movement and shipment of GEHC goods across borders. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategy and take leadership in the application of relevant Customs regulations to ensure compliant customs operations in the country.
  • Lead Government relations both with local and regional Customs officials in relation to Customs authorities inquiries, audits and as required by the business to support specific transactions and processes either directly or thru Trade bodies/Legal Counsel as needed.
  • Function as governance leader and be responsible for driving compliance with all import/export activities to meet all country procedures and processes.
  • Ensure that pre-declaration review is performed for import and export transactions including confirmation that valuation, classification, country of origin, required customs and other government agency permits and any applicable special program documentation is complete before an import or export occurs.
  • Work with and manage approved agents to support daily customs clearances and own shipment issue resolution.
  • Identify Customs risks areas and develop actionable plans and procedures to mitigate those risks.
  • Evaluate internal controls and drive implementation of recommended improvement plans.
  • Prepare periodic reports and metrics on duty, quality, savings, opportunities, risks, accomplishments, and value creation.
  • Lead, coach, coordinate and motivate the Customs team by promoting and developing talent, strengthening pipeline, and promoting reward & recognition.
  • Provide advice, counsel, and training to key stakeholders regarding Customs compliance, regulations, and laws.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Customs, Logistics, International Trade, Finance, Legal or related disciplines.
  • 10+ years of working experience in customs and/or international trade and logistics in an international business environment.

  • Fluent in English skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
