Systems Engineering

• Engineering of infrastructure related solutions to support operational needs: Design and deploy systems configurations by analyzing operating systems, application environments, system resources, and business customer requirements
• Collaborate with development teams in “whiteboarding” systems design, capacity/redundancy planning and product/platform architecture deployments
• Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and operational requirements.
• Install and configure in-house and 3rd party applications.
• Create and update system and procedural documentation. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Contribute to and maintain system standards.
• Improve performance and scalability in system environments by researching, evaluating and recommending new technology products and services.
• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
• Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

Operations and Support

• Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
• Provide 3rd level support per request. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted stakeholders.

Maintenance

• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
• Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications.
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

Generic

• Continuously updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, open-source user groups, reading professional publications and white papers. Stays abreast of current and cutting-edge Internet operations best practices, establishes personal professional network related to systems architecture trends, gives presentations to technical and business teams

Technical skills:

• 3-5 years of experience with CICD pipeline creation & maintenance [Github actions, Bitbucket pipelines, Gitlab-ci, Teamcity, Codedeploy]
• at least 1 year experience with Git repository management [Github, Bitbucket, Gitlab]
• 3-5 years knowledge & experience in IaaS [Terraform, Ansible, Cloudformation]
• 1-3 years of experience in AWS & Azure cloud [Certification is a plus]
• at least 1 year of experience with setting up and maintaining monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, pingdom
• Proficiency in Shell, Bash, Powershell, Python scripting.
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes [ Helm or Openshift is a plus ]
• Proficiency in the following technology is a plus [Tomcat, Java, Nginx, Apache, PostgreSQL]
• Proficiency in Linux and Windows server management.
• Experience in Magnolia CMS is a plus.
