Function

Our Finance team deliver sustainable growth for our business, customers and much-loved brands. We're part of a £12.2 billion revenue organisation, responsible for driving an exceptional level of performance and creating the potential for future growth.

This key position is part of our Asia-Pacific (APAC) Customs & Excise team in the Global Tax function, and reports to the Head of Customs & Excise - APAC.

About the role *Kindly note that this role is located in Bali*

This role is responsible for proactive, high-quality Customs & Excise operations in Indonesia. You will be in-charge of handling both operational and advisory activities in coordination with the local Supply team in order to support the production and distribution activities.

Responsibility

1. Drive smooth Customs & Excise strategies and operations;

Implement global strategies, policies and guidelines for Customs & Excise management in Indonesia, principally for a production plant.

Manage day-to-day customs declarations and excise tax filings (e.g.CK-4B, LACK-1, LACK-10, PACK-1, PBCK-4, CSCK-3 and etc.

related to local production, import / export licenses, HS code determination etc., ensuring good documentation.

Ensure timely resolution of queries and audits from Customs & Excise authorities.

2. Spearhead process improvements and other impactful projects;

Keep up-to-date with Customs & Excise regulatory changes and best practices, analyse impact of regulations on daily activities, identify risks and opportunities and recommend solutions.

Support digital transformation projects, including self-identifying opportunities for automation and applying technology to Customs & Excise workflows.

Support the Regional Head and global teams in identifying and delivering projects focused on cost reduction (e.g. bonded operation).

Participate in global trade projects to deliver value and manage potential exposure.

3. Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, providing key recommendations and support as the subject matter expert;

Internal teams include Local and regional Supply business partners, especially in production and logistics. Regional Customs & Excise teams, and the wider Global Tax function.

Other functions also include Finance, Legal, Corporate Relations, Logistics and Business Integrity.

External stakeholders include Customs & Excise authorities, 3rd party logistics (3PL) providers and customs agents, as well as External advisors

About You

Possess at least a Bachelors Degree, with minimum 6 years of proven experience in customs and / or excise operations in a multinational company, advisory firm or a Customs & Excise authority.

Strong technical knowledge of customs and trade regulations in Indonesia and ideally Asia, e.g. HS code, customs valuation, origin and Free Trade Agreements.

Familiarity with logistics processes and experience in managing 3PLs / customs brokers.

Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; strong at problem-solving, project and time management.

Demonstrated track record of partnering with functions and teams, including the ability to influence and guide junior team members who are not direct reports on work processes.

Self-motivated, quick learner who is a team player with cultural awareness and curiosity. Willing to challenge status-quo and embrace changes.

Good communication skills (written and verbal) in both Bahasa Indonesia and English to liaise with international internal as well as external stakeholders.

Practical experience of using technology (e.g. macros, Power Query / Power BI) to save time on daily operations is a plus.
