Educational Background
- A degree in agriculture (soil science, agronomy), Horticulture
- Specialized education or training in Organic Farming practices is hightly beneficial Experiences
- Prior experience working on Organic Farms, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role
- Familiarity with various aspect of Organic Farming such as crop rotation, soil healrth management, pest and disease control, and organic certification process
Leadership and Management Skills
- Ability to lead and supervise a team of farm worker effectively
- Strong organizational skills to plan and coordinate farm activities effeciently
- Experience in creating work schedules, delegating tasks, and ensuring deadlines are met
Technical Knowledge
- Proficiency in Organic Farming techniques and principles
- Knowledge of sustainable farming practices, including composting cover cropping, and integrated pest management
- Understanding of soil science and the principles of soil fertility management in organic systems
Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to idnetify and address challenges that arise in Organic Farming, such as pest outbreaks, nutrient deficiencies, or adverse weather conditions
- Capacity to troubleshoot issues related to crop health, soil quality, or equipment maintenance
Communication Skills
- Must speak English
- Effective communication skilss to interract with farm workers, suppliers, and customers
- Ability to articulate Organic Farming principles and practice to stakeholders, including customers and regulatiory agencies
Adapability and Flexibility
- Willingness to adapt to changing circumtances and seasonal variations in farm operation
- Ability to make informed decision quickly and adjust farming practices as needed
Attention to Details
- Thoroughness in monitoring crop health, soil conditions, and environmental factors affecting fram productivity
- Diligence in maintaining records and documentation required for organic certifications and complience
