Job Description
The Metallurgy Technician is responsible for performing various tasks related to the analysis and testing of metal materials, as well as possessing a deep understanding of metallurgical properties. They work under the supervision of engineers or senior metallurgists in laboratory or production environments. Other specific tasks include testing strength, wear resistance, microstructure, and chemical composition of metal materials used in product manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct metallurgical testing and analysis on metal material samples. 
• Prepare samples for testing, including cutting, grinding, and other processing as per specified procedures. 
• Perform quality and strength testing to assess material integrity and performance. 
• Analyze the microstructure of metal materials using microscopy techniques and other equipment. 
• Record and analyze testing data meticulously, and compile test result reports. 
• Ensure that all testing procedures are conducted in accordance with applicable safety and environmental standards. 
• Communicate effectively with production teams and engineers to discuss testing results and other quality issues. 
• Assist in the development and improvement of production processes by providing insights based on metallurgical testing findings.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Practical work experience or training in metallurgical laboratories or production environments.
• Strong understanding of basic metallurgical concepts and material structures.
• Ability to accurately perform metallurgical testing using various laboratory equipment such as metallurgical microscopes, spectrometers, and strength testing machines.
• Proficiency in data interpretation and report generation.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Good communication skills, including the ability to interact with various parties within the organization.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
• High compliance with workplace safety procedures and environmental regulations.
• Proficiency in using software and computer programs related to metallurgical data analysis is an added advantage.
