We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plastic Injection Molding and Vacuum Stainless-steel Factory Manager (FM) to oversee our manufacturing operations in our Semarang facility. The Factory Manager’s responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of factory operations, such as production, quality and costs control, and supply chain management to ensure our operations run smoothly, efficiently and safely. The FM must ensure that production goals are met while maintaining high quality standards and low costs expected by our customers and optimizing efficiency, as well as, using sustainable practices as standards used by best-in-class companies in the industry. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring and inspiring a team of supervisors and workers, creating and implementing operational policies, lean practices and procedures, and collaborating with other departments to streamline processes. One of your important functions is to develop and inspire your team to grow and develop into capable professional leaders. Your role will also involve budget development and management, resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Role and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process, including production planning, scheduling, quality control and costs control, and supply chain management from incoming of raw materials to the delivery of finished goods to our customers, at expected on-time delivery and quality levels.
  • Deliver results measured by all key KPIs including production goals, quality specifications, costs, sustainability, employee safety, and various efficiency measures.
  • Propose, develop and implement the use of key KPIs within a reasonable, agreed time frame after being hired.
  • Manage a team of supervisors and workers, including hiring, training, performance management and particularly, staff development through leading, inspiring, coaching, motivating and mentoring.
  • Propose, develop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize efficiency including lean practices such as Kaizen, value stream mapping, PDCA, Overall Equipment Effectiveness and other methods, striving to follow best-in-class practices, performance and results.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that the factory is following all relevant regulations.
  • Our FM is a key member involved in all factory capital and operating budget development and management, resource allocation and a lead in all factory planning initiatives, from day-to-day operations to medium and longer-term factory plans.
  • Work closely and collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and logistics, to ensure that products are manufactured to the quality standards expected by our customers and markets.
  • Monitor production metrics and adjust as needed to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure that raw materials and finished products are stored, tracked and handled properly.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure that production meets customer demand.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned by Senior Management to achieve or exceed Company goals
     

Skills, Abilities and Characteristics

  • Experienced in managing factories owned by foreign or western companies in Indonesia.
  • Solid experience in manufacturing operations especially in consumer goods made of plastics and stainless steel.
  • Proven experience in leading, motivating, managing and coordinating with employees at all levels.
  • Results driven with ability to plan and deliver against deadlines and targets.
  • Hands-on experienced in implementing continuous improvement programs and utilizing Six Sigma tools, methodologies and related continuous improvement tools, in similar manufacturing environment, which includes analyzing, organizing and leading managers in implementing a continuous improvement program at a facility, will be considered as strong advantage.
  • A dynamic person with personal initiative, team player and exceptional leadership skills.
  • People oriented with strong people focused values.
  • An energetic self-starter who thrives on building and changing an organization.
  • Effective communication skills with the capacity to succinctly convey ideas, primarily in English (basic Chinese as secondary language an advantage).
  • Ability to use good verbal and written communication skills to interact, inspire and collaborate effectively with staff and team members at all levels at this facility in Bahasa and English with our foreign staff of all levels also (ability to speak Mandarin Chinese will be a big advantage).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant field required (relevant advanced degree an advantage).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the same position with foreign owned factory in Indonesia for plastic consumer goods.
  • Practical experience in developing and implementing continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective presentation skills to effectively convey ideas and recommendations to company leadership team (primarily in English language required).
  • Effective inter-personal and communication skills to communicate at levels of a company.
