Supplier Development Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise in wood to join our team in Surabaya, Indonesia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering or a related field, with a particular focus on wood materials. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, efficiency, and safety of our production processes related to wood materials. Proficiency in Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies and techniques is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Job Description:

Identify opportunities for supplier manufacturing process improvement.

Plan, facilitate and execute supplier continuous improvement projects.

Collect and analyze detailed cost breakdown data including supplier material, manufacturing, utility, labor, SG&A, profit, etc.

Negotiate with suppliers based on cost breakdown analysis data for cost reduction.

Use lean manufacturing tools to identify and develop solutions that drive supplier continues improvement.

Monitor product and manufacturing process improvement milestones to ensure on-time completion and sustainability.

Evaluate current supplier production lines and increase productivity and efficiency by introducing new technology and new equipment.

Audit all established mew manufacturing process to ensure sustainability.

Provide leadership by mentoring supplier team members in the use of new process, ensuring transfer of knowledge, and creating culture of continuous improvement.

Audit supplier quality control process and ensure the supplier follow the process.

Inspect and test products and ensure the products meet the specification and standard.

Audit supplier safety procedure, ensure supplier uses PPE and not to conduct any dangerous operations at production line and container loading site and avoid incurring safety related cost.

Implement and manage supplier corrective action request, driving supplier to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, prevent recurrence of quality issues.

Work with supplier on production and shipping schedule to reduce lead time and achieve on time delivery.

Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production, quality, safety, efficiency, cost, delivery and overall performance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5 years of experience in continuous improvement. Manufacturing, Supplier Development environment.
• Strong leadership skill with ability to facilitate and influence direction.
• Bilingual skill in Indonesia and English.
