Job Description

Warehouse 

  • Determines space requirements for storage and schedules delivery and distribution of products, parts, and accessories to achieve distribution objectives and meet customer requirements. 
  • Ensures the efficient and economical utilization of facilities for storing and distributing raw material and finished goods inventories.  
  • Analyzes the physical distribution system to ascertain whether it is functioning according to the needs and objectives of the company and coordinates the design and implementation of surveys, revised procedures, and facility changes.  
  • May participate in the selection of sites for plants, shipping centers, pool points, and warehouses.  
  • Analyzes data on markets, existing facilities, competition, costs, and measurements.  
  • Prepares and analyzes inventory reports to identify slow-moving and/or surplus stock. 

Inventory or Material Control

  • Controls inventory of raw materials and work-in-process.  
  • Provides information to determine status of current orders and to forecast needs for future orders. 
  • Compiles records of amount, type, and value of material or stock on hand.  
  • Monitors reorder points and initiates action to replenish stock. 
  • Controls inventory of finished goods for sales warehouses, distribution centers, and factory mixing points to meet sales and distribution demand. 
  • Responsible for inventory levels, inventory positioning, and planned production and sales forecasts.  
  • Reconciles discrepancies in inventories.  
  • Coordinates with traffic, production planning, and warehouse personnel to ensure appropriate routing, scheduling, and storing of goods.   

Planning/Scheduling

  • Develops raw material requirements and scheduling requirements from engineering specifications and production schedules.  
  • Plans and manages material movement with purchasing, warehouse, and production. May negotiate lead times with suppliers and manage schedules for timely delivery. 
  • Develops and/or reviews master production schedule and work orders, establishes priorities for specific customer orders, and revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, materials, machines and equipment.  
  • Responsible for the assignment of target start and/or completion dates/times for manufacturing or processing operations. Also includes the selection and sequencing of available positions or processes and assignments to individual work centers or lines. 

Logistics

  • Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between points of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements. 
  • Ensures that customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints in order to meet marketing and financial objectives. 
  • Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration and related functions. 
  • Develops requisitions for and manages records of equipment, components, repair parts and related manuals; tracks logistics materials and parts for proper allocation of storage facilities; and reviews configuration changes to evaluate impact on logistics deployment.  
  • Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory and analyzes requirements in order to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates. 

Shipping/Receiving

  • Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and/or receiving duties which may require the use of hand trucks, forklifts, and other devices, as well as computers to maintain data.  
  • Majority of the tasks are clerical.  Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment. 
  • Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials; prepares records of materials shipped and bills of lading; routes materials to destinations. 
  • May lie out, fabricate, and assemble nonstandard shipping crates and boxes, and prepare parts and tooling for special shipment.  

Traffic/Transportation

  • Plans, schedules, and routes inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight, using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company policy. 
  • Schedules with carriers, reconciles freight bills, prepares and negotiates claims, and selects or recommends carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and least expensive movement of goods and material. 
  • Conducts research on transportation methods, rates, and routes. Develops programs to audit and monitor carrier rates and charges and evaluates past performance and cost of transportation.  
  • May negotiate transportation rates in accordance to company guidelines and standards.  
  • Ensures that carriers are notified for freight pick-up and that the freight is routed properly; prepares bills of lading and shipping manifests; traces shipments and obtains proof of delivery. 
  • May answer inquiries regarding shipping status and expedite shipment when required.   

Employee Development & Management

  • Train and provide development opportunities for staff.  Ensure annual goals are complete and communicated. Ensure Global Performance Management System is up-to-date and regular feedback is provided to staff members.
  • Monitor and evaluate team members, and adjust training where needed.
  • Attract, retain and develop high potential talent.
  • Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values.
  • Perform general management duties, exercising usual authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, promotions and terminations.  Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
  • Act as a team role model and change-agent.
  • Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.
  • Coordinate team efforts, create and manage a regional strategy and team operating plan.

Operations

  • Provide project management and Supply Chain, Materials Management, and Logistics leadership.  
  • Accountable for departmental budget and project deliverables.  Secure and allocate appropriate resources and manage project to meet Departmental goals and achieve financial objectives.  
  • Lead cross-functional team on projects.  Communicate and work with all levels of the organization.  Manage a large multi-function program or a set of projects. Interact with colleagues, suppliers and customers.  
  • Strong awareness of competition and impact of strategies and tactics in the marketplace.  
  • Apply specific technologies to projects. 
  • Leverage internal/external experts in the network to accomplish goals.
  • Expert in Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) process.  Lead the formulation and development of projects.  Provide direction and guidance to the project leader. Monitor progress on schedule, budget and technical output.  Provide guidance to the team on ELS projects.
  • Review effectiveness of operating procedures, maintenance, space utilization, and protection of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Achieve maximum levels of productivity, ensuring that the business benefits from the lowest possible cost and best value.
  • Responsible for clear, focused leadership to further reduce the barriers to delivering competitive advantage via global size and scale.
  • Actively engage in translating best practices in the areas of experimental and organizational design and development, cost modeling and developing enhanced internal and external relationships to support local and international businesses.
  • Responsible for delivery of short-term and-long term results in order to develop and maintain the organization’s credibility with the business and creating opportunities for the function to add greater value to the business. 
  • Use business trends and customer needs to create actionable goals that create competitive advantage.
  • Develop, analyze and manage SML (Supply Chain Material & Logistic) expenses .
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations.  

Strategic Transformation and Long-term Strategy Development

  • Provide leadership to select local and/or global SML initiatives.
  • Develop and execute appropriate business plans/multi-generation SML plans to identify trends, opportunities for marketplace advantage and new ideas for products, processes and services.  Direct SML activities.
  • Develop SML Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM) for assigned areas and confirm linkage to global business strategies.
  • Lead benchmarking of SML-related topics in support of divisional goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree
  • 5+ years Operational experience with team leader experience preferred. 
  • Skilled in analyzing and drawing information for daily operational needs and improvement for the team.
  • Skilled in scheduling and planning, budgeting and control.  Knowledge of systems.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing operation improvement strategies for safety, cost, quality, training, inventory and services.
  • Strong ability to manage, coach and develop a diverse team of individuals performing a variety of tasks.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement efforts.  Familiarity with ELS Operating Principles.
  • Strong customer focus, communication, planning and coordination skills. 
  • Ability to think ahead, anticipate problems, make decisions and take appropriate action.
