Mission of the functional area
- The main aim of the Communications Executive is to help maintain good public relations through various forms of media, ensuring to convey the organization's visions-missions and messages. The responsibility revolves around producing news, features content, and press releases to a variety of media, build relations with media contacts to ensure positive media coverage, and raise awareness of SOS Children’s Villages and its work with key stakeholders and audiences.
- The PR & Communications Team aims to position SOS Children’s Villages as a strong and consistent brand among potential and existing supporters based on SOS Children’s Village's roots, vision, mission, and values. Communications Executive is responsible for the internal and external communication of the brand.
Key performance indicators:
- Produce news articles, written/visual/audio features content, and press releases to a variety of media, including a podcast
- Implement media plans to build awareness of SOS Children’s Villages, promote strategic partnerships, and position the organization as a leader in providing family-based alternative care.
- Assist in the development of media plan to advance the organization’s communication plan and objectives to external audiences.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch SOS Children’s Villages stories through media outlets as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the other Communication team and Program Development to maximize opportunities and align messaging.
- Conduct media outreach and identify media opportunities for profiling of SOS Children’s Villages in online and traditional - in alignment with network protocols.
- Develop key messages, prepares brief documents, write commentary pieces, draft media responses.
- Planning media visit and gathering to engage with key local and national media.
- Effectively drive partnership with media vendors to boost awareness, including above the line and below the line media
- Identify new opportunities in collaborating by creating co-branding events and partnerships in order to maximize awareness, fundraising, and advocacy.
- Support the PR & Communications Manager in executing the communications around crises and issues. As required, takes the action on communications around issues and crises on a case-by-case basis with the team, the relevant country, the relevant department, and the SOS Children’s Villages community
- Support internal teams with their media partnership in any meetings or events.
- Working closely with the other team and perform other tasks, as required.
- May be asked to work weekends and holidays, as required.
- The Communications Executive ensures that communication for fundraising follows a child-rights terminology and approach (incl. respect of the children’s right to privacy) and is coordinated and consistent with communication and messages pursuing advocacy objectives. He/She meets regularly with staff of the NA in charge of advocacy activities to share information and coordinate the timing and the content of their activities.

Requirement :
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Communication/PR/Journalism or related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in journalism, PR, or organizational communications I recent graduate Proficient in Microsoft Office application.
- Familiarity with social issues especially childcare in the media sector.
- Fluent in English written and verbal communication skills.
- Quick to respond, adapt and learn new things.
- Good communication & negotiation skills.
- Ability to work in a team with collaborative skills and as a good listener.
- Have a good understanding of the market and trends.
- Have a good understanding of networking, marketing and PR.
