Global Head Strategy and Planning

About the role

The Head of Strategy and Planning owns the overall project portfolio planning and strategic positioning for Sandoz Technology.
This covers the responsibility of allocating budget to major initiatives, tracking progress, and providing advice to the leadership team on portfolio decisions (i.e., start, stop, adjust, continue). Taking part in strategic alignments and covering requests to position Technology overall. Prepare, moderate and minute key demand decision bodies and leadership team meetings.

Technology project portfolio
• Manages the planning and strategy to track overall benefits of technology program based on KPIs
• Steers technology team to develop right set of KPIs and milestones for overall program and owns central monitoring, supported by a team of finance and external consultants
• Manages planning, budgeting, and benefits activities, to gain required approvals from Sandoz Executive Committee to proceed with execution.
• Defines and drives implementation of project portfolio related processes and applications.

Executes and evolves the performance management process of projects
• Define a transparent, simple, and effective process (including clearly identified inputs, outputs, and steps) to execute project performance management in Sandoz Technology based on best practices and industry standards in alignment with the respective functions
• Monitor and analyze Performance results by creating data insights, and continuously drive ongoing re-prioritization of projects and product rollouts based on KPIs and implementation success

Owns governance of overall technology Strategy and programs
• Drives preparation of senior management governance bodies
• Participate in governance bodies – including moderating meetings, and ensuring that decision making is enabled and well documented.

Manage ad hoc strategic programs
• Drive and implement strategic programs and initiatives supporting overall Sandoz Technology transformation
• Work closely with the Separation office to ensure alignment between separation and transformation projects
• Support Head Separation & Strategy with ad hoc requests from CTO or Sandoz Executive Committee

Number of associates:
Indirect management (dotted line) of a team of experts
Financial responsibility:
(Budget, Cost, Sales, etc.)
Moderate: management of Technology budget
Impact on the organization: Moderate; critical for business continuity (budget allocation, activation, management) and strategic direction of digital and technology]

Role Requirements

Education (minimum/desirable): University degree or various degrees in science and/or business preferred.
Languages: Fluent English written and spoken,
Experience: • 5 years+ of experience in project management, consulting, finance or similar
• 5 years+ experience in leading transformational programs
• Know-how on key financial metrics (e.g. NPV, ROI), experience in (project) controlling
• Experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals preferably generics
• Leadership experience in matrix organization to manage without authority
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize information to develop recommendations, and ability to persuade / influence organization of recommended path
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, to be accountable for individual & team results and drive change across functions
• High display of Sandoz Values & Behaviors
