We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our PMO Manufacturing & Engineering team to closely partner with cross-functional engineering functions at Nike and with our manufacturing factory partners to drive, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Nike strategic initiative deployment and adherence to Nike’s Manufacturing and Quality standards.
An ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of manufacturing process and the ability to work cross-functionally with teams such as Consumer Creation, Product Integrity, Manufacturing & Engineering and external factory partners. They will interpret manufacturing and performance metrics to ensure our factory partners achieve product excellence, manufacturing excellence and on-time delivery at cost. They will monitor the effectiveness of our factory partners’ Quality Management System, ensuring appropriate root cause identification, corrective action implementation and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining the manufacturing systems, processes, and tools we rely on every day to deliver on our commitment to the athlete*.
You will support Nike’s strategic projects, you will review real time operational metrics, asses and validate Quality Management Systems, support automation initiatives, elevate manufacturing capabilities, provide manufacturing feedback to ensure manufacturability and assess the commercialization performance of our factory partners.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will report to our Partner Manufacturing Manager.
You will work closely with our factory partners and Nike teams (Dimensions, NXT, Sourcing, Chemical Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing Systems Engineering) to ensure progress against GSM strategic goals. You will scale new capabilities and innovations at the factory level, ensuring manufacturability and process efficiencies. You will also be expected to mentor teammates. WHAT YOU BRING
Must Have Qualifications
- College degree in technical/engineering field
- 5 or more years manufacturing experience, footwear manufacturing operations preferred
- Strong English language verbal and written communication skills
- Quality Management System tools (FMEA, ISQ, etc.); Proficiency in continuous improvement tools (control charts, histogram, pareto charts, etc.)
- Understands the use of data and application of statistical methods and tools such as SPC, Cp/Cpk, Gauge R&R, DOE, etc. to inform decisions and control processes
- Advanced knowledge of Manufacturing Operations - processes, technologies and materials required to consistently produce finished goods to a measurable standard.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, sketches and digital files in 2D/3D
- Ability to develop engineering solutions with a focus on quality, sustainability, and cost
Additional Role Requirements
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
- Willingness to mentor, coach and influence factory partners and Nike engineers
- Work closely with our manufacturing teams to transition our product into manufacturing
- Domestic travel to factory sites (overnight stay as needed)
- Ability to travel internationally when needed
- Ability to work across cultures and navigate a highly matrixed organization
- Ability to operate independently and in teams
- Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across the enterprise
- Ability to lead and coach with courage
