Purchasing Officer (Construction)

Sourcing and Supplier Selection:

• Identify potential suppliers and contractors for construction materials and services.

• Evaluate and compare supplier proposals and quotes.

• Negotiate terms and conditions to secure favourable agreements.

Contract Management:

• Draft and review construction contracts.

• Ensure that contracts adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor contract performance and address any issues that may arise.

Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

• Work with project teams to estimate costs associated with procurement.

• Develop and manage procurement budgets.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Vendor Relationship Management:

• Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and contractors.

• Address supplier performance issues and implement improvement plans.

• Conduct regular vendor assessments and performance reviews.

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.

• Identify and mitigate potential risks related to procurement processes.

• Keep abreast of industry trends and market conditions.

Collaboration with Project Teams:

• Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements.

• Provide procurement support to ensure timely and efficient project execution.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field.Experience:

• Proven experience in procurement in the construction industry.

• Familiarity with construction materials, processes, and industry standards.

Skills:

• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of procurement software and tools.

Certifications:

• Certification in procurement or supply chain management is a plus (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management - CPSM).

• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in contract terms and procurement processes.
