The Specialist - SHES provides regional specialist expertise in the relevant department within the regional SHES team and job executes systems, procedures and initiatives, incorporating identified leading practices, in line with Orica global requirements and regional priorities while ensuring legislative compliance; support and guide risk management strategies; and identify and implement improvement strategies.

  • Manage Mfg. Centre compliance with regulatory requirements including;

-Any regulatory requirements related to workplace health and safety (WHS) and those environmental issues that are associated with day-to-day operations. 
-Ensuring Mfg. Centre licence to operate continuity by assuring Mfg. Centre compliance with regulatory requirements and nominated industry standards. 
-Identifying all major incident hazards for the facility and implementing control measures that eliminate or minimize the risk of a major incident.
-Carrying out and documenting a safety assessment on how the facility operates, including a comprehensive and systematic investigation and analysis of all aspects of risks to health, safety and the environment that could happen when it’s operating.
-Developing and continuously improving an emergency plan in collaboration with emergency services and relevant stakeholders.
-Preparing and maintaining an updated Major Hazard Prevention System for the Mfg. Centre that demonstrates its safety management system will control risks arising from major incidents.
-Identifying and leading specific SHE improvement projects related to regulatory requirements for the Mfg. Centre

  • Implement programs to drive compliance with Orica’s Group Risk, Safety, Health and Environment Policy, and applicable Group standards and procedures.
  • Guide Mfg. Centre management on the interpretation of legislative requirements, and technical aspects of WHS, and write proposed local practices to supplement Group documents on Health, Safety and Environment compliance including identification and verification of Major Hazard’s Key Controls.
  • Develop, optimise and manage Mfg. Centre risk management systems and lead risk assessment activities.
  • Coordination of Loss Prevention and Business Continuity requirements for the Mfg. Centre.
  • Improving behaviours across the Mfg. Centre’s workforce to better recognise and respond to WHS and environment matters, including implementation of behavioural management initiatives.
  • Write clear guidance for Mfg. Centre teams to maintain compliance with WHS requirements and monitor the behaviours and practices in the workplace.
  • Lead and review investigations into potential and actual breaches of Mfg. Centre, Group and statutory requirements related to WHS, identifying direct and root causes, and support identification and tracking of corrective actions. This also includes coaching the RCA approach to  incident investigations across the Mfg. Centre.
  • Identify risks to current (and foreseeable) compliance, write proposals to assure compliance in changing circumstances and implement the actions taken by Mfg. Centre management to address Health, Safety and Environment regulations.
  • Assist the Project Manager role for Health, Safety and Environment regulations compliance, corrective and improvement projects for the Mfg. Centre. 
  • Maintain a professional and constructive working relationship between Mfg. Centre and the WHS regulator. This includes being the primary Mfg. Centre contact for the specific regulatory departments and responding to all enquiries and reporting requirements.
  • Join Safety and Risk Specialists CoP (Community of Practice) with the purpose of collaborating on best practice and the improvement agenda relevant to the position and its requirements.
  • Support a work environment that encourages individuals to be self-motivated
     
  • Bachelor Degree in qualified engineering or other relevant qualification.
  • Minimum 7 years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experiences.
  • Experience on leading and improving the investigation process through 5-whys and ICAM methods or other investigation methods.
  • Experience on delivering SHE related trainings and site inductions.
  • Familiar with the regulation requirements on Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Familiar with international(NFPA,IP,OSHA,ASME,AS/NZS) and national standard/regulations. 
  • Certified General Safety Expert (Ahli K3 Umum) and Fire Expert (Ahli K3 Kebakaran).
  • Familiar with SMK3 standard and requirements including their audit processes.
