The Assistant Director of Human Resources is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
The Assistant Director of Human Resources assists in the overall management of the Human Resources Team. Areas of emphasis include ongoing training, coaching and keeping the team motivated. The successful candidate will be well-versed in the areas of benefits, workforce planning, recruitment and staffing strategies, wage and salary administration, colleague and labour relations, workforce training and development, and local diversity initiatives. This highly visible role assists in the short and long-term planning of the HR function and is heavily involved in executing HR initiatives.
The Assistant Director of Human Resources will also leverage the following experience, knowledge and skills:
- Sound experience working with local Unions
- Understanding of collective agreements
- 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources Leadership
- Training Proficiency: Capability in designing and conducting effective training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge
- Public Speaking Skills: Strong ability to engage in public speaking, including delivering presentations, leading workshops, and effectively communicating HR policies and initiatives to diverse audiences within the organization
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication (both written and verbal)
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, decision-making, troubleshooting, technical and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated effective coordination, organizational and planning skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet timelines and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, HRIS, SharePoint)
