Uraian Tugas

Background

The Danish Institute for Human Rights (the Institute) is the national human rights institution in Denmark with a mandate to work internationally. The Institute is in the start-up phase of a two-year project, supported by the EU, to support the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) with capacity development and technical support in three identified areas: Human rights and business, human rights and the environment and freedom of expression. The Institute is seeking a PROJECT MANAGER, to be based in Jakarta, Indonesia, to manage the implementation of the project, in close collaboration with colleagues based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Main tasks

As a full-time PROJECT MANAGER, tasks will include:

  • Under the supervision of the Department Director and the guidance of the Project Coordinator based in Copenhagen, Denmark, support the implementation of the project “Support to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR)”.
  • Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator and in collaboration with relevant staff, design, plan, cost estimate and execute activities in accordance with the concepts and methods of the Institute, including the preparation of budgets, narrative and financial reports and financial risk assessments.
  • Day-to-day liaising with AICHR, ASEAN secretariat and EU Delegation to build relationships and support project implementation.
  • Manage logistical arrangements for activities supported by relevant colleagues in Copenhagen.
  • Participate in activities in the region, such as regional workshops, stakeholder engagements, surveys etc. to support with administrative and logistical tasks.
  • Maintain close cooperation and communication with the Institute’s partners and other stakeholders in the region.
  • Support annual narrative and financial reporting to the donor and final project reporting.

  • Travel in the region will be required.

Your qualifications and experience

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in law, international relations, political science, or related field.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience with project management/administration, stakeholder engagement and project implementation, including financial management.
  • Experience working with AICHR and/or other body part of the ASEAN structure.
  • Experience working with human rights related issues in South-East Asia.
  • Experience liaising and engaging with donors, international and regional organisations, national human rights institutions, civil society, private sector etc.

  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, including proven experience in developing partnerships and interacting with state partners.
  • Well organised, flexible, and able to work independently.
  • Good at complying with procedures and in meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of an international team.

Salary and conditions of employment

The duty station is Jakarta. The selected candidate must be allowed to work in Indonesia.

The position is a full-time position (40 hours per week) as a locally employed staff member of the Danish Institute for Human Rights in accordance with the local office and staff guidelines. The position is temporary and ends on December 31st, 2025.

The salary will be determined in accordance with local salary levels.
