Established on 1 January 1999, the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) is an intergovernmental organisation within the ASEAN structure that represents the interest of the 10 ASEAN Member States (AMS) in the energy sector. As part of the efforts to fulfil its function as a regional centre of excellence that builds a coherent, coordinated, focused and robust energy policy agenda and strategy for ASEAN, ACE conducts joint studies, policy dialogues and capacity buildings for ASEAN Member States to support the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2016-2025.
One of the projects that ACE is implementing to support the APAEC is the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) Phase II.
One of the APAEC Programme Areas is No. 7 Civilian Nuclear Energy (CNE) which facilitates information sharing and exchange, technical assistance, networking and training on the use of nuclear energy for power generation purposes.
As secretariat of the Nuclear Energy Cooperation Sub-Sector Network (NEC-SSN), ACE aims to support ASEAN in implementing the Outcome-based Strategies:
- Build up capabilities on Nuclear energy, including nuclear regulatory frameworks, and civilian nuclear safety on emergency response and preparedness, amongst policymakers and technical officers.
- Improve public understanding of nuclear power generation in the ASEAN region.
- Strengthen regional cooperation on Nuclear.
To implement the activities, ACE is seeking one(1) Associate Senior Officer on Nuclear from the ASEAN nations only. ACE promotes gender equality. Hence, female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Associate Senior Researcher on Nuclear will be responsible for the following duties for the implementation of the action plan of APAEC Programme Area No. 7 Civilian Nuclear Energy, but not limited to:
- Conduct various studies on Nuclear, such as a study on willingness, a review on 3S, technical guidelines on Nuclear legal and regulatory framework for power generation, etc.eE0OksY BlOQmI
- Led the development of the nuclear database as part of the ASEAN Energy Database System (AEDS).
- Support other nuclear-related studies in ASEAN.
- Coordinate collaboration opportunities with AMS and external partners and represent ACE in various meetings with Dialogue Partners, Intergovernmental Organisations, etc. Liaise closely with other teams and pillars at ACE in this regard.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A master's degree in nuclear engineering or another appropriate specialist discipline. A Doctor's degree is an advantage.
- Have a minimum of 5 years' experience on Nuclear-related projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Southeast Asian energy landscape, energy policies, and regulations.
